Talk to a Tree Today

Your friends, the trees, have missed you.

You used to be such good buddies when you were young.

You would sit underneath all day and converse about any such subject.

But lately, you haven’t been so chatty.

You found other friends to play with.

But your buddies, the trees, are still there.

They send you their shade, or a friendly hello.

Waiting for the day you remember to remember them.

So, why don’t you talk to a tree today?

A Friend Who has no More Money

“I have no more money.” My friend said to me the other day.

“I can’t find a single dime to my name.”

“I’ve searched the couches, I’ve searched my wallet. I’ve even searched through my sister’s piggy bank!”

“There just isn’t any more money!”

In his state of dismay he began to cry.

“There, there,” I told him. “No need to cry. Things are actually not that bad.”

“What do you mean?” He said.

“Well, you still remember your name. You still have a mouth to speak, and you still have your good intentions even if you can’t keep a dime. You’re not such a bad guy.”

“Even if you haven’t a penny to your name, you’re still my friend. So in that spirit I want to help you.”

“What could you possibly do?” He inquired.

“Well, if I give you a dime, you’ll just spend it. If I give you a dollar it will hold you out for a bit longer. If I give you a hundred dollars you’ll keep some of it, but over time you’ll lose it all and end up back where you started. What if I give you a million dollars?”

“A million dollars?” He shrieked “That would be amazing! I would be rich beyond my wildest dreams! I could buy anything I wanted!”

“Yes you could. But don’t you see the problem with that? You can only see yourself as rich when you have the million dollars.”

“What’s wrong with that?” He confessed.

“Well if can only see yourself as rich with a million dollars, how do you think you see yourself now?”
