There is Nothing Outside of Yourself That you Want

What is out there that you want?

What is out in the world that will fulfill your needs and desires?

Where is it?

Can you pinpoint it?

Can you touch it?

Can you see it?

Taste it?

Feel it?

Where is it exactly, this thing that you want?

In the world that we live in, we get caught up.

I myself included, with beliefs that there is something out there that we want.

And we come to want it so much.

We want and want and want and crave and want some more!

But where is this wanting?

And what happens when we get where we want!?

Well, where is it?

Deep inside, our wants spring forth from us.

They form into desires and shoot off into the world.

But our wants come back to us.

They come back to us in the form of love.

Light, money, education, knowledge.

But where do all these wants take place?

It is here, inside us.

Our wants are really things we want inside of us.

Isn’t it so?

When we want to be beautiful, we want to feel beautiful inside us.

We want to feel the attractiveness, we want to feel loved and excited and wanted.

But all of these feelings are happening inside us.

They are always inside us.

This made me wonder.

If everything we want creates a feeling in us, whether it be joy or love or peace, do we really want the stuff outside of ourselves?

Or do we just want the inner feeling?

Do we want the inner joy, the inner experience?

The inner revelation?

The inner peace?

The inner love?

The inner connection to God?

Isn’t everything really inside us?

I invite your comments, let me know what you think!

Your perspective on this subject parallels the views of Esther and Jerry Hicks and the views of the collective teachings of Abraham. I wonder if you have ever heard of their book, “The Astonishing Power of Emotions?” if not, I believe that you would enjoy reading that and some of their other material. It may astound you but they have published over 700 examples of educational material, including books, CDs and workbooks. I mentioned a few of their books on the forum of my website. Hello Liara - I have read some of Esther and Jerry Hicks. They are amazing!

I’ve also read this particular idea in the Course of Miracles, so I’m not surprised that it is a reoccurring theme in spiritual texts.

For me, it was more of an exercise to arrive at the same conclusion as other people have. A means to understand it from the inside so to speak.

    Thanks for the great feedback!
