You are not your life’s purpose.
You are not your social value.
You are not your value that you give to your friends, your neighbors, or the world.
You are not your purpose.
Now, you might be asking me, what is the point of that statement, and what does it mean?
I had a small epiphany while I was running about my day as usual.
I was thinking to myself, if I only find my life’s purpose, if I can only express healing, if I can only help other people, THEN I can have value, and then I could make money, and then I could buy etcetera, etcetera.
Then, I stopped to think about how I was thinking.
It was like saying I only have value if I provide value to other people. If I only have some sort of role or function to humanity at large then I am valuable.
And you know what, that didn’t resonate with me.
I started to ask why. Why doesn’t this whole purpose thing resonate with me?
Aren’t we supposed to figure out our life’s purpose?
That’s what all the motivational speakers say right?
They say if I just find my life’s purpose, I’ll be happy.
Well, I think, honestly, they have to say that stuff in order to sell books.
Cause if you don’t discover your life’s purpose, and become a millionaire in 3 days, who would want to buy it anyways, right?
I’ll say it again, you are not your life’s purpose.
Your purpose, is to be in a state of joy.
But that word purpose, does not really serve the meaning I am trying to convey.
Your entire existence stems from creating joy, or it should be.
You and I both came down here on earth, really ultimately to experience joy.
Not to save the world, not to become millionaires, not to be the next President.
All of those are false motives IF you don’t feel any joy.
If you don’t feel any joy, then you are out of alignment with your true life’s purpose.
Which is to experience joy.
Now please, don’t get hung up on purpose.
Because your purpose may and will change day to day.
If you honestly and truthfully follow your joy, each and every day, put joy first above all things, the direction you take each day will be different.
Maybe it will be to veg out all day, and philosophize.
Maybe it will be to pet your cat.
Maybe it will be to make love to your boyfriend or girlfriend.
You know?
Ok ok, so I admit those are my particular joys for today, but what are yours?
What would give you joy right now?
What would create joy in your life right now?
I would say that, that is your ‘purpose’ right now.
And please don’t worry about the word purpose or meaning, or anything that sounds like you need to validate your living.
You don’t need to validate anything, because you are already perfect and beautiful and Divine.
All that you have to do is express your Divinity, and that expression comes from expressing joy.
So what would create joy in your life right now? Really!
Write it down or sing it or dance it, it doesn’t matter how you bring it into your reality, just express it!
Do it!
With love,
Ben
How true! Our purpose is as human beings is definitely to experience and also BE joy. It does help, though, to follow your individual life purpose, because that is one (large) way to experience joy. For most people, doing what you love is a way of experiencing joy. Chocolate helps me, too …

Chocolate IS joy, but this can’t be a secret, right?
